Pool Water Balancing:

Properly balanced pool water is crucial to the maintenance of your swimming pool or spa. Test strips are very easy to use and the results take only a minute. Adjusting the water takes only a few minutes more. These few minutes a few times a week will save you money. The correct pH level is particularly important to maintain. When the pH level is low, the pool water becomes corrosive and will damage your pool and equipment, especially pool heaters. When the pH level is high, it can cause scale to develop as well as irritate skin and eyes.

In order to maintain proper water balance, we recommend the following guidelines:

Test Recommended Level To Raise, Add: To Lower, Add:
pH 7.2 - 7.6 Soda Ash Muriatic Acid
Total Alkalinity 80 - 120 ppm Sodium Bicarbonate Muriatic Acid
Free Chlorine 1.0 - 3.0 ppm Chlorine Nothing
Cyanuric Acid 40 - 70 ppm Cyanuric Acid Dilute by partially draining
and refilling with untreated water
